About Poul at Olderwood

Born on a barge, my passion for logistics was formed early. After my studies at the Design Academy Eindhoven, where I developed innovative logistics concepts and won multiple design awards, I have built up more than 25 years of experience in developing future-oriented solutions for heavy industry, logistics and maritime sector.

As the founder of Olderwood, I combine creative thinking with in-depth chain knowledge. I work with market leaders such as FedEx and PostNL on strategic innovations in the field of digitalization, sustainability and process optimization.

Whether it is trend research, concept development or innovation organization – I help companies not only to come up with innovation, but to realize it structurally. Driven, pragmatic and always with an eye for the future of the sector.

My Journey So Far

1975

Inland shipping in my blood

I (Poul van den Elshout) was born as the son of an inland skipper and spent the first 6 years of my life on board. This laid the foundation for my love for logistics. My youth on the rivers and canals laid the foundation for a deep passion for logistics. which shaped my career in logistics innovation.

1992

Graduated with container terminal design

Started studying Industrial Design at Design Academy Eindhoven . With my graduation project – a concept for a container terminal with high-rise warehouse and logistic process optimization – I won the Wolkenkrabber, René Smeets and Prins Bernhard Cultuurprijzen.
